Damon Braces, Invisalign, Or Traditional Braces – Which One Should You Choose?

Two of the more recent innovations in the dental and oral health care industry are Damon Braces and Invisalign.  If you or your children have misaligned teeth and you want to have the issue corrected, you may have a bit of difficulty choosing between them and traditional braces.  If you rule out traditional braces, the choice is between Damon Braces or Invisalign.   Here are some things to consider beforehand.

The Disadvantages Of Traditional Braces

There are several disadvantages with traditional braces that you won’t encounter with Damon Braces or Invisalign.  Brushing your teeth and flossing in between them is considerably more difficult with traditional braces and there are a number of foods that you are not allowed to eat.  Additionally, traditional braces contain brackets and wires that can pierce or poke your mouth and cause irritations.

Advantages Of Damon Braces

There are four advantages of the Damon System to consider when trying to decide between this method and going the Invisalign route:

  • Correcting serious crowding of your teeth is quicker and easier with Damon Braces because the Invisalign aligners are only recommended for minor to moderate misalignments.

  • The Damon System is easier to use because these types of braces stay put.  Plus there is no tray changing to deal with like there is with the Invisalign system.

  • It is easier to “fine-tune” Damon Braces.  So your orthodontist has more control over your treatments and can make adjustments to the treatment method as time goes by.

  • The length of time involved with treatment is reduced with the Damon System.  This includes the number of appointments that you will need to make.

Advantages Of Invisalign Aligners

The Invisalign method for correcting the alignment of your teeth is cutting edge technology and has four advantages over traditional braces:

  • You can remove the aligners easily.  So brushing and flossing are much and means that you can maintain better oral hygiene as a result.

  • Since the aligners are clear and nearly invisible, you or your teenager will not be as self-conscious and concerned about your appearance as you would with traditional braces.

  • There are not as many eating restrictions involved with Invisalign aligners compared to Damon or traditional braces so you can eat just about whatever you want.

  • The comfortable, smoother design of the aligners means that you will experience fewer gum and mouth irritations while undergoing treatment.

You may want to research this issue further.  But ultimately, the choice between Damon Braces and Invisalign aligners is yours.
